I'M IN LOVE...

John The Whistler-I’m In love

No matter what they say, now, I’m in love
I do it my own way ‘cause I’m in love
And I can’t keep that song out of my mind
Whistling that silly tune all the time
whistling...
I’m in love...

No matter what they say, I don’t care
I whistle anyway, everywhere
I wrote this little song on my own
She said that I’m a genius, I’m in love
My friends say that I’m crazy, I’m just fine
My neighbours stare at me, nevermind!
‘Cause only tells the sweetness of her smile
My supersonic girl, I’m in love
No matter what thet say, now, I’m in love
I do it my own way ‘cause I’m in love
And I can’t keep that song out of my mind
Whistling that silly tune all the time
whistling...
I’m in love...

No matter what they say, I don’t care
I whistle anyway, everywhere
I wrote this little song on my own
She said that I’m a genius, I’m in love
My friends say that I’m crazy, I’m just fine

assgment 5 (Los Angeles, United States) ;> by a:120731

Los Angeles,
United States

Called the City of Angels by some, Los Angeles is one of the most populated metropolitan areas in the United States. Founded in 1781, the city experienced considerable growth after 1890 with the construction of the transnational railway enabling the region to export its citrus fruit to cities in the east. Population growth in Los Angeles preceded and created economic expansion, rather than following it as in other US cities. Like other major cities of the world, Los Angeles has grown at a startling rate; what was a small town of 11,500 in 1897 has grown to a 1995 population of 12.4 million. The beautiful dry summer climate was a major attraction for immigrants over the years and after the Second World War many soldiers chose to settle there. During the period of most rapid growth (1940-1950), the population density of the city increased 55.9%.The city is one of the most important industrial and financial centers of the US. Some of the most important activities include aeronautical, petroleum and film industries. The city also has a diversified economy: over 60% of the largest companies in California have their head offices there. Manufactured materials range from petroleum, chemicals, food products and electronic and computer components.

Just that all.
thank you.

assigment 4 (food, drink and culture) ;> by a:120731

Rendang is a dish which originated from the Minangkabau ethnic group of Indonesia and is now commonly served across the country. One of the characteristic foods of Minangkabau culture, it is served at ceremonial occasions and to honour guests. Also popular in Malaysia and Singapore, rendang is traditionally prepared by the Malay community during festive occasions. Though rendang is sometimes described as being like a curry, and the name is sometimes applied to curried meat dishes in Malaysia, authentic rendang is nothing like a curry.

Rendang is made from beef (or occasionally chicken, mutton, water buffalo meat, duck or vegetables like jackfruit or cassava) slowly cooked in coconut milk and spices for several hours until almost all the liquid is gone, leaving the meat coated in the spicy condiments. The cooking process changes from boiling to frying as the liquid evaporates. The slow cooking process allows the meat to absorb all the spices and to become tender. The spices may include ginger, galangal, turmeric leaf, lemon grass and chillies. Chicken or duck rendang also contains tamarind, and is usually not cooked for as long as beef rendang.

There are two kinds of rendang: dried and wet. Dried rendang can be kept for 3–4 months, and it is for ceremonial occasions or to honour guests. Wet rendang, also known as kalio, can be found in Minangkabau restaurants and without refrigeration it should be consumed within a month and it is my favourite food.

Lontong

Lontong is an Asian dish made of compressed rice that is then cut into small cakes. Popular in Indonesia and Malaysia, the dish is usually served cold or at room temperature with sauce-based dishes such as gado-gado and salads, although it can be eaten as an accompaniment to other dishes such as curries. Lontong is traditionally made by partly cooking the rice and packing it tightly into a rolled-up banana leaf. The leaf is then secured and cooked in boiling water for about 90 minutes. Once it is cooled, the rice compacts and can be cut up into bite-sized pieces. Alternative ways of cooking lontong include placing uncooked rice into a muslin bag then letting the water seep in and cause the rice to form a solid mass.

ASSIGNMENT 4 ( LAKSA )

LAKSA

Few types of Malaysia food are so typical as Laksa. Laksa is a popular spicy noodle soup from Peranakan culture, which is a merger of Chinese and Malay elements found in Malaysia and Singapore. The name may originate from the Sanskrit word laksha, meaning "many" and referring to the soup's many ingredients; the word is also the origin of the Hindi term lakh.

Laksa is almost everywhere available. Basically there are two types of laksa: curry laksa (curry mee) and assam laksa. The curry laksa is served in a coconut curry soup while assam laksa refers to noodles served in a sour fish soup. The noodles used are thick though thin noodles (bee hoon) are used too.

Spicy or not? Laksa for sure is one of the more spicy dishes you will find in Malaysia. In general of all Malaysian food, I found the Malay laksa spicier then the Chinese laksa. The assam laksa, with it's sour fish has a distinct different taste then anything else with the exception maybe of the Tom Yam soups you find in Malaysia and Thailand. Curry Mee is usually less spicy though you may have to ask for no sambal if you don't like it too spicy.

Perlis and Kedah laksa is very similar to Penang laksa. The difference is the garnishing. This kind of laksa originate from the northern state Kedah (and can be found in Penang too). Boiled egg is in fact the main difference with Penang laksa though in some places eel can be added.
